FAQs of Coaching
What is coaching?
Coaching is a collaborative effort between you and me to help you move toward better health and wellness through stress management. As coach, I provide support, encouragement, and education as we determine your areas of focus, create a wellness vision and SMART goals, and help you identify and overcome potential or existing obstacles.
We focus entirely on your interests, challenges, and goals. And I encourage you to be yourself, to expand beyond your limitations and become stronger.
What makes coaching so effective?
The coaching relationship builds a foundation of trust through regular sessions and the unwavering focus on what matters to you most. This provides you a “safe zone”-a place you can openly share your current struggles and visions for the future.
Plus, you know the old saying, “Two heads are better than one.” Well, it’s true in coaching. We both use our knowledge, resources, skills and intuition to problem solve. When two or more people focus positively on a vision, the result is synergy. In addition, it provides you with an accountability partner.
How is wellness coaching different from hiring a personal trainer or nutritionist?
Personal trainers and nutritionists are hired to provide information and tell you how to achieve your goals. They typically have a “program” for you to follow—a specific set of exercises on a specific schedule or a precise eating plan.
Wellness coaching takes a different approach. Wellness coaches work on the premise that you already have the knowledge to make lifestyle changes. But no two clients are alike. Wellness coaches help you discover your unique goals and motivators and assist you in designing your own individual approach to lasting lifestyle change.
Who works with coaches?
Anyone can work with a wellness coach. By committing to coaching, you are investing in better health and more enjoyment out of life.
What would we talk about in our sessions?
The client determines the agenda or topic for each session. In our initial session, we’ll clarify your direction and take a look at what you want to achieve. This can be the basis for our talks.
How do the coaching sessions work?
We determine a day and time that fits both our schedules. Then at the appointed time, you call me. We’ll discuss what is a priority for you that week and explore how it is currently affecting you. I’ll also ask you to deepen the work done in the session by taking some action before our next session.
What about confidentiality?
Rest assured that everything we talk about is 100% confidential.
